Face It

There is nothing more personal than your face. What you put on it, in terms of cosmetics and skincare, is an extremely unique decision.

That being said, many college students have similar issues with skincare. We still have some acne, are starting to worry that those undereye circles from all nighters may stick around, we want to look cute, we want to be taken seriously, we want skincare to be easy, and cheap.

No problem right?

Wrong. Finding great skin products is such a challenge. On one hand, I want something that works. I also want it to be relatively inexpensive. My final concern is for ingredients. I don’t like a lot of chemicals in my products and try to look for things with natural ingredients, like tea tree oil or fruits. The labels are far from transparent however (FDA YOU ARE A MESS), and acne sometimes requires the big chemical guns.

I rarely buy the same skin products twice. Your skin gets used to certain things and they no longer seem effective. In addition, seasonal changes and other factors (horomones, etc) change your skin all the time.

Here are my true favorites (I’ve bought all of them more than once):

Face Scrub: Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub (not the trendy one from all the commercials.)

the little beads are the best part!

I also have the grapefruit one, which smells great, but this one is more reliable. And men and women of all ages love it! My cousin’s boyfriend once stayed over and used it in the shower. She says he bought a bottle once they got home!

Face Wash (a gentler version): Boscia Clear Complexion Cleanser with Botanical Blast

This is more expensive but lasts a long time. It has tea tree oil in it and is so gentle and good for problematic skin. Whenever my friend sleeps over, she borrows this and washes her face a couple extra times. Boscia products are sold at sephora and so good for your skin! Their black mask is one of my favorites.

Makeup Remover: Almay OIL FREE (key words) Pads. They work well and won’t make your skin super greasy after a night out. Oil free is your best friend if you have problematic skin.

Finally, some eyecare: Clinique All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Massage

Long name, super refreshing product. Stick it in the fridge and do a quick roll in the morning. The serum absorbs really quickly and it’s oh-so-refreshing.

Last but not least, wear sunscreen (or products with spf). According to literally everything I’ve ever read (and practical examples), sun is the number one cause of aging (and old looking skin). My two primary face products both contain SPF.

Boscia BB cream with SPF 27. This is a sort of super coverup that adjusts to your skin tone. It means less real makeup and quicker morning preparations.

BB cream is super popular in Asia and brands here are just starting to come out with it.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20

This stuff gives amazing coverage and I swear I have one friend who always wants to get ready in my room to borrow a few dabs of this.

Let me know what you think of these products and have a lovely day! Also, thanks SO much to the 11 of you following this blog. I’d love it if you’d send it along to your friends and thanks so much for reading!
